High Availability planning and execution are simpler with virtual I/O. Virtual I/O lets you can
configure server I/O in seconds to meet changing application requirements. All parameters,
including connections to specific physical networks, are configurable in software, eliminating the
need to add cards or move cables.
- Connect any server to any physical network or storage device
- Transfer the complete I/O identity, including WWNs and MAC addresses, from one server to another in seconds
- Configure redundant links across all network and storage connections
Application Migration
When moving an application from one server to another, consider the I/O implications: Is the
destination server connected to the correct networks? Does it have the number of I/O ports you
need? What happens if the application requires 10GE for storage connectivity, but the target
server is only configured for FC storage?
Virtual I/O makes it easy to address these issues. Any server can be connected to any network or
storage device in seconds, without the limitations of cards, cables, and switch ports.
System Availability
All connectivity can be made redundant to ensure high system availability. Virtual NICs and HBAs
may be configured with independent physical links to eliminate single points of failure. Xsigo is
fully compatible with industry standard multipathing software such as PowerPath.
